Explorers and Roots go to Lightwater Valley
Explorers & Roots Networks took a day trip to Lightwater Valley in September. It was a fantastic day and great way to get to know and spend time with one another, outside the walls of St G's! Beautiful weather and no queuing, made it even better, but the day was full of relationship building and lots of fun together!
Jennifer Roberts is the Children’s and Families Pastor for 0-11’s and Network leader for Explorers. She shared her thoughts:
“It was a great way to get to know the children better and a good opportunity for us to meet with Roots to get to know some young people and other leaders. Also good that some young people came from Wrangthorn!
On a Sunday morning we have a very short amount of time to get to know each other. Many of our children don’t go to the same school or live near each other so it isn’t as easy to form friendships with each other. So this network event was a great way for some of the young people who didn’t know each other very well to begin to form friendships.
I had friends living near me when I was growing up who went to church. We could easily hang out; this meant that as we grew up we could support each other on the Christian journey; without these friendships I would have found it harder to follow God and have faith. This is our prayer for the children and young people of our networks at St George’s."
Here's what the leaders had to say:
"This trip was a great opportunity for us to share life and deepen our friendships. It was a great day, my only wish was that I hadn't opened my eyes on the Eagles Claw ride."
“I thoroughly enjoyed getting to hang out for the day with some of the young people I know through Roots. It was great to see one of our boys overcome his fear and get on some hard core water slide action!”
Here's what the children and young people had to say:
"I really liked the Swinging Ship ride because it was lots of fun!"
"I really enjoyed it because I got to know some of the other people in my group."
“Lightwater Valley was amazing, awesome, spectacular and fun!"
