In October some of us had a brilliant weekend away near Scarborough to begin to get to know each other better. We enjoyed good food, a coastal walk, a taxing quiz evening, a hilarious but mean game of croquet (a definite challenge to Christian behaviour) and through a powerful telescope saw Jupiter, its moons and our moon’s craters in amazing clarity. In morning and evening mini-sessions we learned to take time to listen to what God is saying to us and whilst we may have an older wearing body we are the same people inside who still have a substantial capacity to enjoy life and to be of service.
There were many good conversations as we walked, shared meals and drank coffee together. Life stories were exchanged, old acquaintances were renewed and new friendships made. We plan to have another weekend away in the spring/early summer as well as other activities and days out to help us bond as a wider family.
