Charles and Jocelyne Montagu
Charles recently sent news of two converts to Christianity from the Arab world with who he is in correspondence with.
Please pray for Abdelhalim who became a believer after leaving Baghdad in 2008 because of all the violence between Muslims. His family have disowned him and threatened to kill him. Give thanks that he has recently sent in a response to the introductory Bible course provided by AWM which demonstrates he is growing as a Christian. Please pray too for Slimane who is back in his home town in Egypt where, as a Christian, he is not safe. Pray that Charles' Egyptian colleague will be able to help Slimane grow in his faith and plan for his future.
We give thanks for Malcolm, new to AWM and working on the Bible study area of the website with Charles. Charles asks us to pray that Kathy (originally from Australia) and Khalil & Sarah (from Syria) will each be granted a visa to allow them to work for AWM in the UK.
On the home front, please pray for Charles' mother, Charlotte, in a nursing home close to where Charles and Jocelyne are living, whose health is declining.
Short Term Mission Projects
Sarah Ruxton is spending August in Bobo, Burkina Faso, where she is involved in street ministry, practical help in an orphanage; radio ministry and encouraging Christians in 3 churches. Sarah asks us to pray for God's will to be done and for his blessings to be poured out through her into the community of Bobo in Burkina, for God's mighty hand to protect and encourage the relationships she and others made two years ago and the new ones they will make on this visit.
Lizzy Betteridge and Matthew Brothwood are in Cambodia from 15th August with the team from Riverside Church. They ask us to pray for the whole team that they will be able to show God's love to the local community and local Christian workers and for God to guide them into the work where Jesus will be glorified. They also ask for prayer for safety during travel and whilst in Cambodia. The team will be helping to run youth groups, building relationship with sex workers, visiting families to encourage children in education and helping with children's clubs.
We give thanks for those who have recently returned from short term mission overseas, and pray that as they settle back into the UK, God will continue to bless them and teach them though all they've experienced: Leah Thompson (India), Abby Brown (S Africa), Naomi Hill (Uganda), Juliet Radmall (Uganda), Hannah Taylor (Ibiza) and the team working in Romania. Please pray for all those who received them as visitors, that the blessings they received will have a lasting impact.
