"We want the older generation in our community to feel valued and respected"
For the past 4 months, we have been developing an elderly ministry at Wrangthorn Church. We have started by meeting monthly for Tea and Cake, coming together for a couple of hours on a Wednesday afternoon to eat cake and chat, and also do some crafts. The idea was to create a relaxed place for the over 60s to come and find friendship and fun. So far we have had a few different people each month, and are looking forward to how we can develop this ministry and attract more people.
"We are excited to see what plans God has for the elderly ministry at Wrangthorn"
We want the older generation in our community to feel valued and respected, and hope that over time we can create a place where this really happens. It has been amazing to see how people have committed themselves to this, from the men who provide tasty cake every month, to the students who have helped on team, and given their time to love and honour the elderly in their community. We are excited to see what plans God has for the elderly ministry at Wrangthorn, and are really thankful for the people who have found community and enjoyment in this time together.
We are also using this Tea and Cake gathering to build up to our Holiday at Home event, a holiday club for the over 60s at the start of July.
