Just a few weeks ago we received the news from Tearfund that they have found a link church for us in Uganda - Lale, in Soroti District. We’re now about to launch on a 2-3 year journey of prayer, support and giving to see transformation in the community of Lale. When I was in Uganda last year, every church I went to had a surplus of joy and hope, but a deficit of practical skills to lift their community out of poverty. Working with Tearfund, this is the situation we want to change in Lale. God is in the business of changing lives. If we join in him in his work, we discover new resources for ourselves as well - even where we have a deficit of hope and joy.
I hope you’ll join me in praying for Lale, for their pastor, Mark Eceru, for new skills, better sanitation and greater access to education. You can pick up a ‘Connected Church’ form at the back of church to sign up for updates from Lale or contribute directly to this project.
As for me, my prayer is that we’ll not only see change in Lale but also find inspiration for meeting local needs here in Leeds so that more and more people, in Leeds and in Uganda, would discover the God who changes lives.
