Victory for Unity in Mission

"It's a simple thing, having a common goal. It allows us to share life in incredible ways."Dan Hebden, UiM Player

Unity in Misson FC is a team made up of some players from St George's Church and some from other Churches and wider Leeds.  After progressing through the Yorkshire Christian Football League (YCFL) season, they won the trophy final against St Paul's Pilgrims of York on Thursday.

Dan Hebden plays for Unity and shares a great story of sharing life with us:

Final score Unity in Mission 3 - 0 St Paul's Pilgrims

Goals from Emi Banciu, Matt Brothwood and Tom Nisbett. It was a hard fought win and a physical game. Every player showed incredible character and determination, as has been the case all season.

Unity had awesome support from many family and friends coming down to fill up the main stand; for which we are very grateful. The noise they made resembled that of Wembley!

The success this season has definitely helped build community at the club. The journeys we have been on together has brought us closer, integrating Christians and non-Christians, strengthening friendships and forming new ones. It's a simple thing, having a common goal. It allows us to share life in incredible ways.

The YCFL runs 3 league divisions and 2 cups throughout Yorkshire each season. One of the aims of the football league is to spread the Gospel message, bring people to faith and to simply demonstrate a Christian faith to those players, managers and supporters who don't have one. This is done through prayer before each game and also a general ethos of fair play and respect.

Through this ministry, Unity in Mission FC want to share life together and love both Leeds and Yorkshire.
