This summer marks 18 months since we began trialing the Academy of Life discipleship material. In that time, we have been testing and developing our resources with networks, our staff team, and on Saturday mornings. The results have been incredibly positive, I believe, but we are also learning more all the time about how to do this well. If St George's is to have a positive impact for God on the city of Leeds, we will be greatly helped by our city centre location, great facilities, effective teams and strong history. But unless we can make and reproduce mature followers of Jesus, we will achieve very little.
'Sharing Life', our vision, has always been about sharing God's life, he makes us more like Jesus. So far we already have encouraging reports of people growing in prayer, in love and in boldness through the Academy of Life.
This coming October we will be running our second Academy of Life course, open to all, as part of a Saturday morning programme of discipleship training. We will also be releasing resources for families, small groups and individuals to use.
Our prayer is that God uses these resources, along with our daily life of discipleship, to give us a life that is more true, full and shared, more deep and pure, more serving and bold.
