Blessed to be a Blessing

‘He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification' Romans 4:25

This glorious truth should shape our identity and mission at St George's. We are the community of the forgiven who are declared to be part of God's new family.

In recent months I have seen a number of people come to faith in Jesus through the work at St George's. The story of one journey to faith particularly stands out in my mind as I reflect. Struggling with addiction issues and a history of violence, a man in his late 40's came to church 9 months ago, initially through contact having being made via Bridge Cafe. Today, this man's life has been wonderfully transformed by Jesus. He is forgiven and knows the freedom he has in Christ, he is now part of God's family whilst also being reunited with his own family after many years.

On top of this, the Alpha Course has continued to have a big influence upon those who attend. In this past year we have been delighted to have Alpha tables which have been particularly geared towards international students, English as a foreign language students, and a number of guests who reside at the Crypt.

God is on the move! His Kingdom is breaking in! Let us push forward confidently in mission, whether it be in Networks, the work place or family life, so to reach out to a lost and dying world in desperate need of the good news of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.

We cannot do this in our own strength, therefore let’s pray that God would send his Spirit so that, as the blessed, we can be a blessing.
