Hugh and Heather Nelson and their two sons Tomo and Jun are living in rural Japan where Heather and Hugh lead a Japanese church fellowship, English classes and "Happy Clubs" for children.
We thank God for TC, Andy, Lucy, Rob and Paul who visited the Nelsons from St George's last year in order to give Hugh a break from preaching. Hugh writes, " It was great to have everyone here and God really used them and spoke to people through them... We hope this kind of exchange and resourcing can continue in the future, not just with us but with other mission partners too!"
We give thanks too for Mrs P who as baptised in January. Please pray that she will have courage to talk about her faith to friends and family, and that this step of faith will speak to other people in their church.
Please continue to pray for the Nelson family, for the boys faced with the pressures of Japanese schooling and for Heather and Hugh that God will continue to give them vision and refreshment in their busy lives.
Tearfund works with the Pentecostal Assemblies of God (PAG) church in Uganda, training them to help their communities. Through PEP (Participary Evaluation Process) people are learning to recognise what resources they have and to put them to use; lives are being transformed.
St George's Church is a partner in this work and in addition to central giving, we give thanks for many gifts donated by individual church members. Please pray that the training enabled by these gifts will lead to long term blessing.
The latest story from Ogongora of a grandmother called Lucy can be found here.
Please pray that many others will be helped to support themselves and their families through this process and that the church leaders will be given wisdom and vision for their communities.
Samuel Ocung (National Development Coordinator) asks us to pray for their work in 2013 especially for God’s protection, good health and wisdom.
Please pray for Sarah as she prepares to leave her current work with WEC. Pray for a smooth hand-over and safe travel. More news from Sarah will be shared in March.
