Blaithwaite House, Cumbria, 13th-15th July
Take Off are a group of small groups that meet under the flight path in north west Leeds. As well as hosting events in Leeds, giving opportunity to grow as new people are invited; the Network took time away from Leeds to share life with each other. The range of ages in the Network as well as the way they choose to spend time with one another emphasises just how much they’ve become a family, within the larger community of St George’s.
22 members spent the weekend together in this beautiful setting.
Some camped and others stayed in the house, we self-catered and enjoyed the wide range of activities on offer. The grounds are extensive, there is table tennis, archery, adventure playground and places to walk, sit, be quiet.
On Saturday we walked round Buttermere after “thought for the day” before evening meal and games. Sunday morning we had a Service before lunch and home. We were so blessed with lovely weather – the only time it rained was late one evening producing a beautiful rainbow.
“Fabulous; great to get to know people in a deeper way as you only can when you get alongside them for a time”
“Great weekend; good balance of games, activities and time just to get to know folk. To be repeated!”
“I appreciated spending time with people I didn’t know so well, with no sense of rush or urgency, relaxed conversations as we shared chores, walked or just chilled out”
