We love to gather as a whole church and Sundays are a focal part of life at St George’s. Our Gatherings help us to connect as a diverse yet united family to worship, listen to God’s word and pray.

For full details about current and future gatherings, including upcoming sermon series and services, view the latest term programme below.

Morning Service

10.30am | Sundays | St George's Church

On Sunday Mornings we gather with the whole family to worship; we celebrate with singing, hear a talk and meet for tea and coffee to chat after this family friendly service. Find out what’s on for children and young people.

1830 Service

6.30pm | Sundays | St George's Church

In the evening on a Sunday we gather to celebrate the Christian message, invite friends and encounter God. All are welcome but we particularly want to see young adults reconnecting with God. If you’re a student, you are very welcome to this gathering and can meet others for Student Teas at 5.30pm in the St George’s Centre. Every term we also have a Network celebration to celebrate what God has been doing in our Networks and Small Groups.

Our Church Prayer Gatherings

7.30 - 9.15pm | Last Tuesday of the Month | St George's Centre

At the end of every month we take time as a church family to pray for our church and our city. These gatherings are usually a mixture of worship and prayer, often praying in groups.

HOLY COMMUNION

We celebrate Holy Communion (or the Lord’s supper, breaking of bread, mass) at least once a month at both services, welcoming to the Lord’s table all who are baptised and trusting in Christ.

Children are also welcome to receive the bread and wine, provided that they are baptised and understand that Jesus died for them personally. It is up to parents to work out, with their children, if they are ready to receive the bread (it is illegal to give children under 5 alcoholic wine). We pray a prayer of blessing over all those (adults and children) who come forward, but do not wish to receive the bread and wine.

St Augustine's Wrangthorn is a partner church with St George's with a focus on local encounters with the living God. We do this by gathering together on a Sunday to worship, in smaller groups through the week to study the bible, and reaching out in many and varied ways like providing hospitality to the park runners! We believe that prayer is important and as well as praying corporately during the services there is the opportunity at the end of any service to pray in confidence with someone. If you would like to pray with someone then just make your way to the side chapel on the left hand side of the church after all our Sunday services. For more information visit wrangthorn.org.uk

Morning Service

10.30am | Sundays| St Augustine's Wrangthorn

Service of the Word | 1st Sunday of the Month

A service of hymns, readings, prayers and a talk, together with the opportunity to hear people’s stories of God at work in us and through us.

Holy Communion | 2nd, 4th (and 5th) Sundays of the Month

A service of hymns, readings, prayers, a talk and the invitation to gather around the Lord’s table and share in bread and wine together as we remember all that Jesus did in living, dying and being raised to new life for us.

During services of the word and communion services there are separate group activities for children.

All Together Service | 3rd Sunday of the Month

Once a month we gather all together to worship as one family with songs, prayers, a short talk and maybe a drama or two to get us thinking!

Evening Service

5.30pm | Sundays | St Augustine's Wrangthorn

We gather from 5:00pm for drinks and fellowship, starting worship at 5:30pm. The evening service aims to be a contemporary blend of traditional elements of Christian worship, with a focus on the Hyde Park community.

Midweek Morning Prayer

10am | Wednesdays | St Augustine's Wrangthorn

Each Wednesday morning  we gather in the upper room of the church hall to say morning prayer together. This is followed by coffee and biscuits. All welcome.

Sunday Service

Sundays | 12.30-2.30pm | St George's Crypt

We begin with a creative and engaging Church service followed by a freshly prepared meal. Very often there is a tangible sense of God's presence, high levels of engagement from our guests (often 70-80 guests + volunteers). There are many who consider this Sunday gathering to be their Church - a place of community and discipleship. For others this is their first exposure to the good news of Jesus through a friendly and confident mixture of story, scripture, prayer, testimony and song.

DROP-IN SESSION

Wednesdays | 2 - 3.30pm | St George's Church Community Room

Every Wednesday we hold a Drop-in Session to which people can come and chat  with our team about any practical or spiritual issues they may have. The drop-in is followed by a Lighthouse Bible Study (3:30pm - 5pm) and prayer session. This relaxed and safe space is an opportunity to sing, celebrate communion, pray together and engage in recovery-focussed discipleship and bible study.
